According to a recent Pew Research Center report*, nearly 50% of Americans aged 40-59 are providing financial support for their adult children, and 20% are providing financial assistance or care for an aging parent. Many in this “Sandwich Generation” are bearing the care and financial support of their parents and children simultaneously.

The Baby Boomer generation (born between the years of 1946 and 1965) numbers around 80 million and represents approximately 25% of the U.S. population. A recent report from Pew’s Internet and American Life Project** details how, in recent years, Baby Boomers are catching up to (and in some cases, surpassing) younger generations’ use of technology to meet their needs and interests. Key among these needs and interests is new technology to manage their health and the health of those they are caregivers for, technology to manage and care for assets, and technology to make connections through preserving and sharing memories.

Earlier this month, AboutOne, the leading online family organizer, was showcased at the 10th annual What’s Next Boomer Business Summit as an example of the kind of technology that Boomers, and particularly Sandwich Generation Boomers, are using to help simplify their lives. The Summit is an annual event that brings together the country’s top businesses and organizations targeted at serving the needs of America’s booming 50+ market and the “Sandwich Generation”.

“We were honored to be invited to present at the Boomer Business Summit,” says Joanne Lang, AboutOne Founder and CEO. “Baby Boomers’ technology adoption rate is now higher than that of younger generations, and AboutOne has universal appeal to anyone desiring fingertip access to the information they need to take care of family and home. While Millennials were our early adopters and continue to represent a large segment of our customer base, we’re finding that the 45+ demographic is adopting our software solution at a rapidly increasing rate. This is particularly true among members of this demographic who are caregivers.”

According to Lang, “Sandwich Generation Americans are more likely than others to say that they are often pressed for time. AboutOne’s timesaving features make life easier for the one in seven Americans – most of them Baby Boomers – who are caring for both children and parents.”

AboutOne’s web and mobile apps make it possible for customers to store and share family memories and household paperwork in a private and secure environment. Users add paperwork, memories and milestones, plus health and possession details as life events happen. To save time, much of the information is automatically entered by the system, and by linking these items to family members and other contacts, Boomer and other caregivers are just a click away from being advocates and documentarians for those they care for.

AboutOne follows Outside-In software development principles to ensure that the app meets customer needs and expectations. The company has been approached by several organizations that support the needs and desires of the 50+ market, and is working with these organizations to gather product feedback. According to Lang, “With Outside-In, we can be confident that our hard work has paid off by positively affecting people of all ages who use AboutOne, and our monthly product release schedule ensures that we continue to meet our customers’ evolving needs.”

AboutOne, the leading online family organizer, today announced that the company will be featured in the Mobile Apps Showcase at the 10th annual What’s Next Boomer Business Summit in Chicago on March 12, 2013. The Summit brings together the country’s top businesses and organizations targeted at the boomer market and will explore serving the needs of America’s 50+ market and the “Sandwich Generation”.

“We’re honored to have been invited to present at the Mobile Apps Showcase,” said Joanne Lang, AboutOne Founder and CEO. “Research shows that Boomers are particularly interested in exploring new technology to manage health, care for and protect assets, and make connections through preserving and sharing memories. AboutOne’s web and mobile apps provide customers with an online organizer that builds on calendar and contacts tools they are already using, and offers a private and secure alternative for preserving and sharing information.”

AboutOne makes it possible for customers to store and share family memories and household paperwork in a private and secure environment. Users add memories and milestones, plus health and possessions details and paperwork as life events happen, linking these items to family members and other contacts, at home or on-the-go. The system makes it easy by entering much of this information automatically. AboutOne enhances customers’ existing calendar and contacts tools with online filing and reporting, and provides powerful search functions for instant access to the details about people, places, paperwork and events that they need – anytime, anywhere. The company has gamified its organizing app and offers real world rewards to its frequent users through partnerships with online rewards programs.

According to Lang, “Baby Boomers’ adoption rate and use of technology is now higher than that of younger generations, and AboutOne has universal appeal to anyone desiring fingertip access to the information they need to take care of family and home. While Millennials were our first adopters and continue to represent a large segment of our customer base, we’re finding that the 45+ demographic is adopting our software solution at a rapidly increasing rate.
“AboutOne offers a variety of features that make life easier for the one in seven Americans – most of them Baby Boomers – who are caring for both adult children and parents,” says Lang. “Our monthly product release schedule ensures that we continue to meet our customers’ evolving needs.”

Las Vegas, NV and Paoli, PA – Jan 8, 2013 – AboutOne, the only organizing app that saves customers time and offers them real world rewards for getting organized, today announced that founder and CEO Joanne Lang will speak during the Living in Digital Times Mommy Tech Summit at the 2013 International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow that attracts the “who’s who” of the technology industry.

The Mommy Tech Summit is a 4-day lifestyle exhibition and conference that takes place at CES, spotlighting the newest technology innovations and trends impacting the $2.1 trillion Mommy market. Lang will speak on the Five Trends Moms Can’t Afford to Miss panel on Wednesday, January 9, at 3:00 PM in room N256 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Lang will also showcase AboutOne’s new iPhone and Android apps at the Mobile Apps Showdown on Thursday, January 10, at 12:30pm in room N255.

Created by cloud technology expert Lang, majority women-owned and managed AboutOne will use the Mommy Tech Summit’s “Cool Products for Moms” exhibit to unveil significant updates to its calendar and contacts-based family management system, including private/secure sharing, Google calendar entries, and a new Reporting Dashboard that includes a Health Summary Report, a Babysitter Report, and a Home Inventory Report.

The company is also featuring its new partnerships with Swagbucks (http://www.swagbucks.com) and Working Mother (http://www.workingmother.com). AboutOne has gamified its organizing app and now offers real world rewards to its frequent users through Swagbucks. The Working Mother partnership is the first of its kind and is part of AboutOne’s focus on Outside-In software development. This program will be used to gather product feedback from Working Mother readers, who will then be alerted when their requested product updates have been implemented.

AboutOne follows Outside-In software principles to ensure that the app meets customer needs and expectations. According to Lang, “With Outside-In, we can be confident that our hard work has paid off by positively affecting the people who use AboutOne.” In addition to Lang, the company’s booth at CES will be staffed by the actual AboutOne developers who will have the opportunity to observe and chat with customers as they are using AboutOne’s latest web, mobile, and Windows 8 releases. Booth visitors who participate in the feedback process will be entered to win a Microsoft Surface tablet.

“I created AboutOne based on my own experiences as the mother of four boys,” said Lang. “While I use LinkedIn for business and Facebook to manage my social life, they own my data. Before AboutOne, I had no private, secure option to help me organize and manage my family and home life. Because I’m absolutely committed to providing a technology that makes life easier for moms, I’m delighted to be able to speak on the Five Trends Moms Can’t Afford to Miss panel about how companies can develop products that truly meet the needs of moms.”

Android Users Can Now Manage Life On-The-Go with New AboutOne Family Organizer Companion Application
New mobile offering lets customers manage family memories and household paperwork anytime, anywhere.

Android mobile phone users can now manage family memories and household paperwork on-the-go with a new, free application from AboutOne (www.AboutOne.com), the leading online family management system. The AboutOne Family Organizer application, currently in beta and available for immediate download from the Google Play store, makes it easy to manage life’s details within the regular flow of the day – no more accumulating piles of paper to file, no more lost documents, and no more wasted time spent searching for family information and paperwork.

“In addition to our current Windows Phone offering, we’re delighted to bring our Family Organizer app to the Android platform, and will be releasing our iPhone app later this month,” says Lang. “AboutOne is committed to helping customers get organized, save time, and be prepared with access to the household information they need, when and how they need it. With AboutOne and our suite of mobile apps, a mom really does have family life in the palm of her hand.”

The password-protected Family Organizer app helps families save time and eliminate paper clutter. Right at the point of purchase, a customer can snap a scan or photo of a receipt for a new possession and instantly add that item to their home inventory with links to warranty info, user’s guide, and purchase place. These details will then be available for instant retrieval for returns or insurance claims, and in the next release, AboutOne will alert the user about relevant product recalls.

From the baseball game, the recital, or on vacation, parents can snap and add photos to record special memories, along with quick notes about the occasion and links to the people involved. Those memories will then be shareable: privately through email or AboutOne’s automatic family newsletter, or publicly through push to Facebook and other social media platforms.

At the doctor’s office, parents will be able to use Family Organizer to quickly access their children’s health records and answer questions about medications, vaccinations, and conditions. They can snap a scan of the health report and bill they receive and add them to AboutOne, along with links to relevant family members and other contacts, as well as notes and reminders about upcoming appointments. In an emergency, parents will have instant access to emergency contact information.

In keeping with AboutOne’s emphasis on using mobile apps to simplify family life, Joanne Lang, the company’s Founder and CEO, will present during the BlogHer ’12 Conference’s “Hot To Make An App” panel session (www.BlogHer.com/technical-4) on Saturday, August 4,, 2012 in New York City.

More details on AboutOne’s current mobile offerings are available at www.aboutone.com/mobile.

Earlier this month, as Hurricane Isaac continued to affect parts of the country, the Federal Emergency Management Association launched the ninth annual National Preparedness Month. Spearheaded by FEMA’s Ready Campaign, this annual event is a nationwide effort to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Online family organizer AboutOne (http://www.aboutone.com/) has joined this effort by preparing a checklist and accompanying video tutorial (http://www.aboutone.com/checklists/) of recommended emergency preparedness documents and information families should have on hand.

In 2009, the Citizen Corps National Survey (http://citizencorps.gov/resources/research/2009survey.shtm) revealed that only 44% of Americans have a household emergency plan, including ready access to family members’ medical information, emergency contacts, insurance paperwork, and other important information.

“Hurricane Issac, July’s super derecho, and the recent wildfires in the western United States are all grim reminders that disaster can strike anytime, anywhere, said Joanne Lang, AboutOne’s founder and CEO. “Last summer, Hurricane Irene forced my own family to evacuate, so I understand the stress and worry an event like that can cause. I’m proud of the fact that AboutOne’s online family management system helps our customers be prepared for anything life throws at them by giving them instant access to the information they need to take care of their homes and families.”

AboutOne’s family organizer helps customers save time, get organized, and be prepared. The password-protected companion apps (http://www.aboutone.com/product-tour/mobile-apps/) provide exceptional data security and make it easy to manage life’s details on-the-go – no more accumulating piles of paper to file, no more lost documents, and no more wasted time spent searching for family information and paperwork.

The app uses gamification (http://www.aboutone.com/product-tour/organization-station/) to make it fun for customers to get organized, guiding them on the path to organization, and rewarding them with points and badges for meeting their organizational goals. As part of their efforts to support National Preparedness Month, AboutOne has released a special Emergency Preparedness badge.

AboutOne can be used to quickly access family members’ health records and answer questions about medications, vaccinations, and conditions. In an emergency, AboutOne’s companion mobile apps provide online and offline access to emergency contacts and family member health information.

Right at the point of purchase, a customer can snap a scan or photo of a receipt for a new possession and instantly add that item to their home inventory with links to warranty info, user’s guide, and purchase place. These details will then be available for insurance claims after a disaster.

From the baseball game, the recital, or on vacation, parents can snap and add photos to record special memories, along with quick notes about the occasion and links to the people involved. Those precious memories will then be safely and securely stored in the cloud, protected from the destruction resulting from a natural disaster.

“AboutOne is committed to helping customers get organized, save time, and be prepared with access to the household information they need, when and how they need it on a daily basis, and in case of emergency,” says Lang. “With AboutOne and our suite of mobile apps, a mom really does have family life in the palm of her hand.”

AboutOne’s latest mobile offering turns Android phone into a remote control to manage busy family life

AboutOne, the leading online family management system, will launch its Android companion app at BlogHer’s annual conference, allowing users to manage family memories and household paperwork at home or on-the-go. In keeping with AboutOne’s emphasis on using mobile apps to simplify family life, Joanne Lang, the company’s Founder and CEO, will present during the conference’s “Hot To Make An App” panel session on Saturday, alongside Esther Crawford and Stephanie Quilao.

This year marks the eighth annual BlogHer conference and attendance is expected to be higher than ever with 4,500 attendees and over 100 sponsors supporting the conference. BlogHer focuses on learning, networking, and relationship building between bloggers, the media, and brands, and many sponsors of the BlogHer conference are Fortune 500 companies. BlogHer’s Annual Conference is the biggest event of its kind; there is no larger gathering of women in social media in the world.

“It is fast becoming a BlogHer tradition for women within the community to launch new products at our annual conference,” said BlogHer co-founder and COO, Elisa Camahort-Page. “We couldn’t be more pleased to spotlight the progress of AboutOne, a homegrown tech startup founded and run by Joanne Lang. Joanne, who also served as a mentor at this year’s BlogHer Entrepreneur’s Conference, has an impressive background in technology and recognizing how it can help our everyday lives. We’re pleased to see that, like BlogHer, AboutOne works with and staffs their company with bloggers. It’s particularly gratifying to work with a business from within our community who so purposefully gives back to the community.”

According to Lang, “We are thrilled to be partnering with the BlogHer conference this year. BlogHer has a history of supporting women-led startups, and AboutOne is honored to be a featured app at this year’s conference. It’s the perfect place for us to connect with women who understand the importance of capturing and preserving life’s details, are early adopters of cutting edge technology, and whose voices are heard by millions on blogs and social networks around the world.”

AboutOne’s family organizer helps customers save time and eliminate paper clutter. The password-protected companion app provides exceptional data security and makes it easy to manage life’s details within the regular flow of the day – no more accumulating piles of paper to file, no more lost documents, and no more wasted time spent searching for family information and paperwork.

At the doctor’s office, parents can use AboutOne to quickly access their children’s health records and answer questions about medications, vaccinations, and conditions. They can snap a scan of the health report and bill they receive and add them to AboutOne, along with links to relevant family members and other contacts, as well as notes and reminders about upcoming appointments. In an emergency, parents will have instant access to emergency contacts and family member health information.

“In addition to our current Windows Phone app, we’re delighted to bring our family organizer to the Android platform, and will be releasing our iPhone app later in August,” says Lang. “AboutOne is committed to helping customers get organized, save time, and be prepared with access to the household information they need, when and how they need it. With AboutOne and our suite of mobile apps, a mom really does have family life in the palm of her hand.” More details on AboutOne’s current mobile offerings are available at www.aboutone.com/mobile.

Media and bloggers who would like to arrange a time to speak with the founder and bloggers of AboutOne can contact the company directly to schedule a time. AboutOne will have an on-site presence all weekend in the Partner Pavilion, and proudly employs several bloggers in attendance including Tara Ziegmont (FeelsLikeHomeBlog.com), Dresden Shumaker (CreatingMotherhood.com) and Cecily Kellogg (UppercaseWoman.com).
AboutOne Founder and CEO Joanne Lang made the announcement today at the Privacy Identity Innovation Conference. The AboutOne Family Organizer companion mobile app takes full advantage of Windows Phone’s unique design and speed, turning a customer’s phone into a remote control for everyday tasks.

According to Todd Brix, Senior Director, Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft Corp, “AboutOne is a great example of the rich applications that people will find on Windows Phone Marketplace to get the most out of their phone. Windows Phone is backed by a rich developer ecosystem that is creating a variety of quality apps and games, like AboutOne’s Family Organizer, which help users take advantage of the phone’s dynamic design.”

Family Organizer helps families save time and eliminate paper clutter. The password-protected application provides exceptional data security and takes advantage of Windows Phone’s Live Tiles feature to deliver organization tips of the day, as well as alerts and countdowns to events.

AboutOne’s companion app makes it easy to manage life’s details within the regular flow of the day – no more accumulating piles of paper to file, no more lost documents, and no more wasted time spent searching for family information and paperwork.

Right at the point of purchase, a customer can snap a scan or photo of a receipt for a new possession and instantly add that item to their home inventory with links to warranty info, user’s guide, and purchase place. They can snap a scan of the health report and bill they receive and add them to AboutOne, along with links to relevant family members and other contacts, as well as notes and reminders about upcoming appointments. In an emergency, parents will have instant access, even with no cell phone service, to emergency contacts and family member health information.

“We’re excited to bring our online organizer to Windows Phone,” says Lang. “AboutOne is committed to helping customers get organized, save time, and be prepared with access to the household information they need, when and how they need it. Windows Phone’s interactive design with Live Tiles offers a brilliant user experience to our customers. With Windows Phone and Family Organizer, a mom really does have family life in the palm of her hand.”
