Do you want to know one of the questions I get asked most as a professional organizer?….”Do you have a junk drawer?” A funny question but I think I know why I get asked this…people want to know that even though I organize for a living I am still NORMAL! LOL So the answer?…YES, I do have one (small) junk drawer. Doesn’t everyone? I am not sure if this is something I should be admitting but oh well!
A junk drawer usually exists because it contains a bunch of little items you just don’t know where else to put. I personally love using small, snack sized zip lock bags for my “junk” but I have also found some great ideas to share with you. Check out these creative ideas from Pinterest below:

Great idea! I am not exactly sure what this is but it looks like Altoid tins to me. I like they stack neatly on top of each other. Don’t forget to use your label maker for this idea or you could even use a sharpie.

The trick to this idea is to place enough cups or bowls in the drawer so that they fit tightly. Otherwise each time you open and close the drawer your containers will tip over and spill.

This idea is really inexpensive because you can recycle plastic containers that food comes in.

Ice cube trays are an excellent idea for teeny tiny items such as bolts, screws and nails. They can also be used to sort paper clips and other office supplies for hair accessories such as rubber bands, barrett’s and little hair clips.

LOVE this idea! Ihave used baggies, too….but, found a neat idea yesterday…I am trying it out before I share. Thanks for adding to my ideas.
Love the organization! Especially the Altoid containers. A friend of mine told me I don’t have a junk drawer because mine is too organized. He says a real junk drawer is supposed to be messy.
Thrifty Mom: funny but I have to disagree…as long as it has JUNK it is a junk drawer…some people are just good at organizing junk-like you
