So I’m always on the lookout for quick organizing projects to tackle when I have a few extra minutes here and there. I’ve even started timing some of my daily tasks, and found that I could accomplish many of them in 10 minutes or less.
After thinking about these 10-minute tasks, I realized that by completing one every day for a year, I would tally up over 60 hours of organizing! Pretty impressive!
So what can YOU accomplish in just 10 minutes a day?
Lots of stuff!
Here are 22 ideas to get you started!
1. File or delete 10 emails in your inbox
2. Clear old voice-mails and text messages from your phone
3. Declutter one drawer in your kitchen or bathroom
4. Straighten one shelf in your closet or one drawer in your dresser
5. Fold a load of laundry
6. Mark upcoming birthdays, meetings, and appointments in your calendar
7. Clean out the dishwasher and refill it with dirty dishes
8. Flip through recent magazines and rip out any articles you want to read; then recycle the rest
9. Throw out any expired food in your refrigerator
10. Plan your meals for the next 2 or 3 days
11. Disinfect and wipe down the counters in your kitchen or bathroom
12. Sift through {and recycle} one pile of junk mail
13. Shred or file one stack of paperwork
14. Make a to-do list for today {or for tomorrow}
15. Pack lunches for tomorrow
16. Pick out your clothes for tomorrow {and help your kids do the same}
17. Take out the trash
18. Sweep, vacuum, and/or dust one room in your house
19. Make sure your cell phone, computer, camera, MP3 player, and other electronics are fully charged
20. Clean out the front and/or back seat of your car
21. Clean out your wallet, purse, or hand bag
22. Look over your daily schedule to make sure you aren’t forgetting to do something
Remember — you’re aiming for progress, not perfection, so doing something is always better than nothing at all!

I do the “5 Minute Fix.” I set a timer for 5 minutes (I have one upstairs and one downstairs), then just start straightening, washing, folding, whatever comes to hand, for just 5 minutes. It’s amazing how much you can get done in that time. Sometimes I’m even inspired to keep going!
